goal
GOAL
Yup, we’ll all be screaming it soon: GOAL! In exactly 59 days, the World Cup will be all many people can talk about. Isn’t it funny how the word “goal” refers to putting the ball in the goal, and the goal itself? You can also find the word in many other places. Any target or purpose can be referred to as a goal. And if you ever throw a crumpled up piece of paper at a bin, you’re more likely to think ‘goal!’ than ‘try!’ (that’s what a goal is called in rugby). Goals are generally ambitious, but it’s fine if they aren’t.
